THE MAORI-INSPIRED GAME OF SKILL
The practice of poi* – a genuine art form – has endured for 1,000 years. The balls were originally used by Maori warriors to physically prepare for hunting season. Today, thousands of followers of all ages use them for a martial arts-style activity. The art of poi can also be combined with dance to create solo or group choreography, or with juggling – the difference being that the two pieces never leave your hands. They are spun in perfect synchronous movements throughout the body space. Besides being a fun activity, there is evidence that doing the Fy** Challenge improves balance, concentration, memory, coordination and manual dexterity.
